With the high-profile listing of China Heavy-Duty Trucks HOWO A7 heavy trucks, there has been more and more attention and discussion on AMT in the market. At this year's Shanghai Auto Show, various companies have also made great efforts to popularize and promote AMT to end users. From domestic CNHTC and FAW to Eaton and ZF abroad, various companies have launched AMT representative products. WABCO's OptiDriveTM next-generation modular mechanical transmission automatic control system is also drawing attention due to its application on HOWO A7. It is reported that this AMT product is a new modular AMT system specially developed by WABCO for the characteristics of the Chinese market. The system consists of three core components: a shift handle integrated with an electronic control unit (ECU) in the cab, a shift actuator mounted on the transmission, and a clutch actuator. Loading the system on a mechanical transmission is equivalent to using an electronic system to replace the artificial shift gears and control clutches to automate shifting. This product can provide the vehicle with both manual and automatic shift modes. When using the automatic shift mode, the electronic control unit selects the currently most appropriate gear and completes the shift operation based on the comprehensive judgment of the engine speed, accelerator pedal position, vehicle braking status, vehicle load, and road ground conditions. When the manual shift function is used, the shift request of the gear is issued by the driver. The driver controls the shift timing and gear selection, and the clutch is automatically controlled by the AMT system. In addition, WABCO's AMT product can also provide vehicles with economic/power mode and crawl mode, which is suitable for vehicles under different working conditions. According to WABCO technicians, this modular mechanical transmission automatic control system and WABCO's integrated AMT products for Mercedes-Benz and Volvo, ZF and other companies are essentially no difference. The integrated AMT system is generally considered when the new gearbox is designed. The system components except the shift handle are integrated with the gearbox, and are generally applied only to specific gearboxes. Modular products, adding a considerable number of common components, making the application of the system does not need a new gearbox design, but only need to be modified in the existing gearbox can be achieved, so that you can easily with the vehicle The cooperation between the existing products of the plant and the transmission plant effectively shortens the development cycle, reduces costs, and is more suitable for the current market environment in China. It is understood that this new generation of modular AMT control system has been put into production on January 1 at WABCO's Qingdao plant. This system was put into production in China for the first time and was produced only in China. It is tailor-made for the Chinese market, and other countries do not have a production base. And before 2016, WABCO will be the exclusive supplier of China National Heavy Duty Trucks' automatic transmission system, which will be exclusively supplied by China National Heavy Duty Truck for this modular AMT control system. In this exhibition, WABCO displayed its integrated AMT control system in addition to the OptiDriveTM next-generation modular mechanical transmission automatic control system. The products of two different technical routes all exhibited and expressed WABCO's attention and confidence in the Chinese market. Dr. Liu Liang, President of WABCO Automotive Systems Asia Pacific, stated: "Waewco has been paying close attention to the changes in the Chinese market, including the opportunities brought about by the World Expo, as well as the national policies, regulations, financial support, etc. that have been gradually introduced. We understand The ever-changing demands in the market, the timely introduction of new products for Chinese customers, and the vigorous implementation of localization strategies. WABCO will continue to take the leading position in the industry, continue to innovate, and achieve a win-win situation with customers growing together."
