Brazil applies anti-dumping measures to tires in some regions

On January 16th, 2014, the Brazilian government announced to protect the local tire industry from unfair competition and immediately imposed anti-dumping measures on tires imported from South Korea, Thailand, China Taiwan and Ukraine.

Anti-dumping measures have been approved by the Brazilian Foreign Trade Commission. The commission accused the tires imported from these countries and regions for selling tires in Brazil at a lower price than the production base, causing damage to the local tire industry.

At the request of Brazil’s National Tire Industry Association, the Brazilian Ministry of Industry and Trade began an anti-dumping investigation in December 2011. After more than two years of investigation, the Ministry of Industry and Trade finally determined that dumping facts were established.
