Advantages of stratified caving method: (1) The ore loss rate and depletion rate of the method are very low, without loss of strontium-rich powder, the ore loss rate is 2~5%, the depletion rate is generally 4~5%, and the minority is up to 8 ~10%. (2) The ore dressing can be carried out on the mining face, and the waste rock is discarded in the mining roadway that has been taken; the ore can be divided. (3) The method has great adaptability to the shape of the ore body .

Disadvantages of stratified caving method: (1) The consumption of wood is large, often reaching 0.03~O.O5m3/t. This shortcoming is more prominent in China where wood is insufficient; (2) the production capacity of ore is small, generally 1500~3000t / month; (3) there is a fire hazard; (4) the ventilation surface of the working face is not good.

Applicable conditions for stratified caving method: (1) The ore value is high. At this time, the economic significance of reducing the loss of ore loss is significant; (2) the loose ore of the ore is not stable and is not allowed to work under the exposed surface of the ore; (3) the surrounding rock is not Stable, it may collapse naturally after exposure to fill the goaf. If the surrounding rock cannot fall down with the mining and naturally collapses, manual forced topping is required to cause the rock cover layer; (4) The inclination and thickness of the ore body shall enable the artificial false roof to move down with the mining work. When the dip angle is large, the thickness of the ore body should be no less than 2m, and when it is inclined, it should be no less than 4~5 m; (5) the ground is allowed to collapse.

In addition, since the stratified caving method uses the mining raft as the smallest unit for recovery, it can be used to mine irregularly shaped ore bodies. After the mine is filled, it is sometimes returned to the mining column by stratified caving.
