The import and export of construction machinery in the first half of 2012

According to Secretary General Su Zimeng of China Construction Machinery Industry Association, exports of construction machinery continued to increase in the first half of 2012, and imports fell. According to statistics, the volume of imports and exports was 12.576 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 5.01 percent over the same period of last year. Among them, the import amount was US$3.336 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 36.2%; the export value was US$9.24 billion, an increase of 36.9% year-on-year, and the trade surplus was US$5.9 billion, an increase of US$4.38 billion over the same period of last year.

In the first half of 2012, US$2.027 billion was imported into the whole machine, which was a drop of 34.58% over the previous year and accounted for 60.75% of the total imports. Parts and components imports reached US$1.31 billion, a drop of 38.45% over the previous year and accounted for 39.25% of total imports. Among them, 8,858 sets of crawler excavators were imported, which amounted to 1,033 million U.S. dollars, down 58.41% and 45.65% year-on-year, respectively, which was more than a drop in overall machine prices. Products with a large drop in imports: large-scale all-terrain cranes, crawler cranes, tire excavators, other bulldozers, pavers, container forklifts, manual vans, scrapers, road rollers, and parts. Products with more imported growth: elevators and escalators, loaders, asphalt mixing equipment, tractors, tower cranes and high-powered bulldozers.
