Honda Motor Co., Ltd. announced on November 26 that its vehicle production in China in October 2010 was 56,000 vehicles, an increase of 4.4% over the same period of last year. In addition, Honda Motor Co.’s global production in October 2010 increased by 1.4% to 305,000 vehicles.
At the same time, Nissan Motor Co. announced that its single-month production in China in October 2010 also hit a record high, with a total production of 85,000 vehicles, an increase of 17% year-on-year. Nissan’s global production in October was 363,000, an increase of 12%.
It is reported that Honda Motor Co. has announced recently that the company plans to increase its production in China's factories and may manufacture hybrid vehicles in China. In addition, Honda's joint venture in China, Dongfeng Honda's second plant in Wuhan, China, will start production in 2012.
From January to October 2010, sales of Japanese branded domestic passenger vehicles in China totaled 2,146,900 units, an increase of 25.2% over the same period of last year, and the growth rate lagged behind the average level of China's narrow passenger car industry (37.8%).
Japanese automakers Honda and Nissan recently announced their auto production in China in October 2010, setting a record for single-month production.
