Shimadzu Corporation of Japan released the company's latest energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrum, the EDX-720. This instrument uses a new filter and counting system, which greatly improves the detection sensitivity of the elemental analysis of the sample, and shortens the analysis time.

For the detection of toxic heavy metals such as lead and cadmium, the sensitivity of EDX-720 is 2 to 4 times higher than that of conventional spectroscopic instruments, and the detection time is only 1/2 to 1/10 of the conventional mode, about 30 seconds. Shimadzu hopes that the annual sales of EDX-720 will be around 500 units.
